On 4/1/10 the Commissioner issued a CON for $25.4M to construct a 39,000 sq ft replacement hospital in Wrangell with an 8 acute care/swing bed unit, a 15 bed nursing home unit, a 2 room emergency room department, a 1 suite surgical department and a 1,150 square foot laboratory department. Following mediation the CON was modified to increase from 15 to 20 beds in the nursing home unit. On 6/9/2011 the CON was modified to allow for a facility of no less than 44,900 sq ft and a cost of $26.6M
