Description:
Alaska Regional Hospital plans to renovate 24 existing medical surgical beds into an adult, inpatient psychiatric care unit. The beds will be divided between one 12-bed voluntary unit and one 12-bed involuntary unit which will include increased security and restraint capacity. The involuntary unit will accept court ordered patients of a non-violent and non-Felony nature. The project cost is estimated to be $6,776,000 and will be complete one year from a CON approval.
Notes:
The department conducted a concurrent review of this application and one submitted by Mat-Su Regional Medical Center for like services. Both applications have been approved, as proposed, and issued a CON.
